Petworth Dog Walk Halloween 2009

A chicken dog?!
2009 marked the second year of the Petworth Dog Walk Halloween – a celebration for dogs and their owners. Domku Restaurant in the Petworth neighborhood hosted pooches from all over Washington DC in a fun and furry competition for the best costumes and tricks that dogs and their owners could perform.

And the best way to really appreciate the tail wagging good time is to watch this video:

A special thanks goes out to Petworth Dogs listserv and Domku Restaurant for their annual support of our Petworth Dog Walk Halloween.

Last night we had an amazing celebration of costumed canines in Petworth. Around 30 dogs + owners came out to Domku Restaurant to compete in the Petworth Dog Walk Halloween.

We had everything from ladybugs to pigs in blankets, to pumpkins, all tail wagging happy to compete in three categories:

  • Best Doggie Costume – the classic, dress ’em up!
  • Best Twins – celebrating how dogs and owners can look alike
  • Best Trick – Costume or not, show your dog’s skills

Contestants met at the Clark School first, to wear out our favorite pooches, before suiting them up in great costumes. From there, we walked our bedazzled best friends down to Upshur Street for judging at the Domku patio.

We had several winners in each category: Tug in Trick, MPD Dog & Biker Dog for costumes, and Tamara and Ziggy for Twins. But don’t take our word for it, judge the contestants yourself.

This is why our neighbourhood is called “Petworth”.

A special thanks to our sponsors: Domku, Brighter Days, Little Rascals, and Yoga House Studio, and the Petworth Dogs listserv for making this happen.
