Last night we had an amazing celebration of costumed canines in Petworth. Around 30 dogs + owners came out to Domku Restaurant to compete in the Petworth Dog Walk Halloween.

We had everything from ladybugs to pigs in blankets, to pumpkins, all tail wagging happy to compete in three categories:

  • Best Doggie Costume – the classic, dress ’em up!
  • Best Twins – celebrating how dogs and owners can look alike
  • Best Trick – Costume or not, show your dog’s skills

Contestants met at the Clark School first, to wear out our favorite pooches, before suiting them up in great costumes. From there, we walked our bedazzled best friends down to Upshur Street for judging at the Domku patio.

We had several winners in each category: Tug in Trick, MPD Dog & Biker Dog for costumes, and Tamara and Ziggy for Twins. But don’t take our word for it, judge the contestants yourself.

This is why our neighbourhood is called “Petworth”.

A special thanks to our sponsors: Domku, Brighter Days, Little Rascals, and Yoga House Studio, and the Petworth Dogs listserv for making this happen.
