While in my joe-cool job with Geekcorps, I am constantly looking for ICT experts willing to take volunteer assignments in developing countries, this time around I can offer more than the usual great benefits besides and that warm & fuzzy feeling from doing good.

Geekcorps is looking for a new Geekcorps Mali Program Manager – a full-time, fully paid position in Bamako, Mali.

– Geekcorps Mali Program Manager –

The International Executive Service Corps, a 501(c)(3) international development nonprofit organization is looking for a passionate and experienced technology expert and advocate to manage its Geekcorps Mali program in Bamako, Mali.

The Geekcorps Mali Program Manager is a full-time two-year position, based in Bamako, Mali, open to qualified candidates of any nationality. Reporting to the Vice President of Field Operations and supported by the Geekcorps staff in Washington, DC, this position will be responsible for the management and growth of the Geekcorps Mali program.

Geekcorps Mali is an established program with staff, volunteers, and facilities in Mali. Its main goal is to bring technology solutions to community radio stations in Mali, to increase the quality of information they have at their disposal, and to encourage sharing of information and programs between the radio stations. Due to its success, Geekcorps Mali has an increasing portfolio of projects and partners that include SchoolNet, Africare, and the University of Bamako.

Required & Preferred Skills:

– Project Management: Strong project management experience managing multiple ICT-based projects and staff in public & private industry. Familiarity with USAID grants and administration requirements, preferred.
– Technology Leadership: Deep knowledge and understanding of information and communication technologies and their practical application in real-world environments. A focus in Linux programming or administration, connectivity (networking, wireless, satellite), and Free and Open Source Software preferred.
– Program Development: Previous success in identifying and developing winning ICT-based project opportunities and proposals from private industry and government sources, USAID preferred.
– Language and Location: Advanced French verbal and written language skills, and international work experience. Previous experience working in developing countries, especially West Africa, preferred.
