Nonprofit Ratio Explorer
Inspired by PJMF’s Grant Guardian.
01 / Enter and verify
Start with the source.
Use one fiscal period and one currency. Leave unknown figures blank. Enter 0 only when your records establish a true zero.
Record its page or schedule, then confirm it matches the source. Changing a figure or reference clears its confirmation. Document title and fiscal date are also required for a verified report.
02 / Set a comparison
Make the assumptions visible.
These scenarios are examples for exploration. They are not validated standards for nonprofit categories or any funder’s settings.
03 / Financial ratio report
Your figures, in context.
The method, in plain sight
Useful questions.
No automatic verdicts.
Three ratios
Current assets ÷ current liabilities. Available unrestricted cash and liquid investments ÷ average monthly expenses. Donor-restricted net assets ÷ total net assets.
Reserve coverage assumes the entered period’s average spending is representative. It does not predict future cash flow.
Explicit assumptions
PJMF publishes examples of a 1.0 or 0.5 current-ratio threshold. Other thresholds, weights, and the optional score here are this simulator’s assumptions. You can change them and compare the result.
Missing evidence stays missing. No risk grade or funding recommendation is produced.
